I think the Decas is the best place for the Council on Aging. I would certainly appreciate having more space in the Multi Service Center as the COA has been asking for the past seven years, but a multi generational center at Decas would be optimal. To be able to interact with the kids on a daily basis - reading, doing crafts, music, listening to each other, being taught new things on our phones and iPads. The possibilities are endless! To have a separate dining area and separate gym! A weekly breakfast cooked by volunteers, family dinners and movie or game nights! Community education programs that could be self-funded, for all ages! Music, art, history, travel, trips to area museums and parks! To me the best thing for seniors is the outdoor space. Now we have nothing but asphalt! Corn hole, bocce, horseshoes, a croquet court, tournaments against other Council on Agings! Yoga and tai chi in the courtyard! Eventually a recreation department, or this could be done through Community Ed with all kinds of opportunities for the youth in town. It is such a win win for the whole town, and I believe it could be done at minimal cost, as many other towns have done I hope everyone can get together and make this work!
